i know, but this is my DD, about 80 miles/day, and a 6.0 is a gas hogg! even with the 4.11's i am still averaging 17+ all around.... and about 19 hwy....
a 6.0 would move it faster though. if i ever get the "honda civic work car mod", then i might do a 6.0.

Oh, before anyone disagree's with the fuel economy part I am only talking about normal driving/cruising not 1/4 mile at a time mileage.

I have had 4.8, 5.3, 6.0 and 6.2's with 3.73's and 4.10's in my 1500. Not much change in fuel economy at all. I owned a 2000 ECSB 2500 that sucked gas like it was free but that was primarily due to the weight of the truck and the 4L80E transmission. The puny 245's and the 4.10's didn't help much either. I currently have a 6.2 in my truck and the fuel economy is the same as the 4.8. I was hoping for a small increase in mileage with the 6 spd but that is a bit too much to ask with AWD I guess.

The 6 spd is really awesome. The engine never falls out of its powerband. I have it set to shift at 5600 but the engine revs so quickly it actually shifts at 6000 rpm so it falls right into the sweet spot of the torque curve.
I took it to the track once last year and ran a best of 12.93 @ 104.99. That was bone stock right down to the base 07 tune. I haven't gotten the shifting exactly right yet though; second gear short shifts sometimes and the engine seems to have a huge power swell once in third gear. That track day was very hot, above 90 degrees, and the track was pretty slick so I was spinning all four tires leaving the line and a little spin at the 1-2 shift also. I had an appointment to have it tuned in March but had to cancel due to work. I hope to get it tuned before the next track day that a local forum is sponsoring in May. For a truck it definitely hauls but is still no match for my car on dry pavement
