First race in my Fox body

First race in my Fox body
I finally got to build another toy, but wasn’t an LS truck this time. I put together a little 93 notchback with a 5.0 hydraulic roller and an AOD trans. Car has a built 8.8”, 4.10 gears with Eaton unit, 31 splined Mosers, and pretty mild H/C/I 302 roller motor. Running my old slicks off my Sierra I had laying around.
Anywho, this wealthy gentleman at the gym overheard me talking about my little junkyard cheap build and asked if I had ‘taken it to the track’, so I responded not yet sir. He offered me a race with his ‘Super Snake’ Shelby. I was a little torn, but love racing, so I said sure!! Well, he brought his hot rod out to a local back-road to meet me. Sure enough, it was a Super Snake, but was on street tires with a 6 speed manual. I picked a starting spot and a finish line (road sign) that was about 1/8 mile down the road, hoping he would blow the tires off. The guy he brought with him got out and flagged our start, my little car spun about 3 feet and left. Dude must have blown the tires off bad, but I was open headers and couldn’t hear where he went. I think I got him by 6-8 lengths when I crossed the line. It was GREAT! I told him I custom built my pistons and that I had about 10k in the motor alone. Told him I figured I was making around 800 horses or so. LMAO
To date, I have $3200 in the car (inclusive of car purchase). Almost every part has been a Craigslist pick up or junk yard, except for the new Anderson motorsports cam in it. Makes prolly 385-400 chp I guess. Weighs 2950. Fun times!

Man I honestly don’t know how much power he was making. He had no idea what his car even had in it when I asked. ? Just one of those goobers that bought the biggest toy and thought he would beat the world I reckon. I think he would have reeled me in pretty easy had we went 1/4 mile or further.. I am still on a stock stall in the trans, so I prolly am just in the high 12's or so for a 1/4. She hooks great with the 10" wide slicks on the street though. They are 26x10x15

It's hard to beat a light mustang. What's all done to it cam only? I have had a couple (about five) fox body mustangs. And with a set of afr 195 and a custom grind cam still only made 315/327. Stock bottom end. But use to walk on a lot of of f-bodies from a dig.
Nice kill though.

I have a custom grind Anderson-racing cam, GT-40p heads fully worked, shaved, 5 angle valve job, aftermarket valves, dual springs, has an RPM intake, 670 Holley, and headers.. 3800 custom stall from Edge racing... 8.8" rear with 4.10 gears and Eaton posi. 26" tall DOT slicks also. Havent gotten it to the track just yet though.
