Default Got slapped around by Hemi RCSB

No it wasn't in the Z71. Like that would ever happen :p

I was on my way home from work on the stretch of road I usually see the silver SRT10. Instead I see a clean blue RCSB Hemi truck merging onto the freeway in front of me. I pull up next to him and slow down to give him aq thumbs up for a clean truck and he acknowledges the gesture and his buddy in the passenger seat gives me the thumbs up as well. Then the guy floors it as they both wave goodbye to me....

He imediately jumps a truck length on my and while my truck downshifts into 3rd (I was going to fast for a good 2nd gear drop) he continues to pull away. I finally start to really accelerate but by the time we stabilize he already have 2.5 truck lengths on me and we stay that way for a few seconds, him no longer leaving me but I'm no longer gaining so I lift and he does the same but not before he turns on his hazards...

I laugh knowing this is a bone stock 4.8L vs his HEMI and how lucky he was I wasn't in the Z71 or if my newly built motor was in this truck. I mock the lil "bow down" ....> smiley while he flashes his hazard and you can see them laughing along. I pull back up next time them and gave him another thumbs up while he leans back and takes a hit of a joint he was smoking *rolls eyes* but his passanger is saying "right on" and giving me the thumbs up. I used gestures to describe my truck as a 4.8L but I'm not sure if he understood and I noticed an impatient little blonde chick behind me and wanting to pass so I pull ahead and let her go by. I pulled off at the next exit to see if he wanted to try it from something less than 75mph but they kept going straight.

Anyway, point to the story is those things are pretty damned quick and knowing I trap 90-91mph at the track you stockish guys better be careful if you run into a RCSB and just pray they don't have a Superchips programer and the usual bolt-ons. LOL

lol... they were higher than a cloud and still won. Lol jk, doesnt take much skill to floor an automatic truck from a roll on the interstate.

I have raced plenty in my little 4.8 with the mods in my sig. I find that I can beat them from a stop pretty easliy and they tend to keep up with me from a 35 roll till about 89mph (2-3 shift) and than from there on i put like 2 and 3 lengths on the rcsb's. But def a stock 4.8 would have a rough time, yes.

yeah if you`re not dropping down into first or second(and at just the right speed) you arent going anywhere in a 4.8... at least thats the case with mine.

Thats pretty funny. It will be even funnier if you see them again once your new setup is done. My truck will be going into the shop to have my new setup put in as soon as I close the deal on the new car (Im telling my fiance its hers...LOL ) an 05 CTS-V. The truck is getting a 402, built 4L80, T trim, and possibly nitrous at that time or at least a few weeks later. There will be a minimum of 400hp required to pull into my driveway much less the garage

If I was modded it would have been a much better race and I'm sure I would have started pulling on him eventually but no biggie. I just thought it funny that he was so cocky right off the bat. I would have been the ultimate cool video if my truck was finished and after he waved bye bye I go blowing by him smoking the tires at 80mph. The look on their faces would have been priceless. Hell even just drilling him a new one in the Z71 would have been great.

Tahoe, get that sucker done! I'm pullin for ya. I can't wait to see videos of your tank rippin down the 1/4mile. I ave tons of trucks, I need some fast SUVs to show my customers.

I play all these videos you guys post up at my work. Customers are always stoppping to watch them and remarking how how they didn't know trucks could be that fast.

A 5.7 all powerful HEMI should beat a 4.8. The HEMI is an entire Honda motor bigger and rated at 70hp more. Its kinda sad that stock for stock a HEMI (The most powerful V8 Dodge has) is considered an 'interesting' race for a 4.8 (The smallest least powerful V8 GM has)

A stock 6.0 swapped into a RCSB 1/2 ton would make a stock RCSB HEMI look silly. I dont know why the Dodge boys tend to think that the HEMI (Which has NOTHING to do with the 426 HEMI and is closer related in architecture to a Honda motor then the 426) is the end all of V8's.
