Ok first some hemi rams do run good. My sig..

BUT theres a couple issues with hemi dodge rams

1. The Ram truck line is SEVERLY, and I mean SEVERLY have tons of torque management from the factory. Theres throttle delay that hurts us really bad. Its almost embarrassing. Not that it doesn't make the power it doesn't let us get to the full amount until 4000rpm

2. Roll racing in dodge trucks is a hudge disadvantage for us. The 545RFE or 645RFE was designed no to downshift like chevy transmissions. In some cases if you floor it theres a 2 second delay, it searches, finds the gear its suppose to go into and then finds it. It again can kill you in roll racing. Best way around this is to flick the gas hard, unlock the converter then lay into it. Or best way is to use Autostick and use 2nd prime which is only in autostick. 2nd prime is a bit faster then letting it hit 3rd at the track.

touch off topic but i'm curious,
speaking bone stone vs bone stock
are the 09'ish rams able to out run the 5.3 chevs? how about 6.2?
I got a buddy with an 09 hemi and all he does is talk crap, yet never wants to settle it. but he's like "oh man I smoked (insert other friends name) truck! you might be able to keep up now with your new mods" and he even claims to have "smoked" his boss with the 6.2...my question was "did he know you were racing?" haha he didnt find that to funny

Typical Alberta hemi owner. Your truck will skull drag his heap anyday of the week. Those trucks are only fast on the internet and nowhere else. Bone stock I dunno... 5.3's fail to ever impress me. However my 09 hemi crew lost to a bone stock gmt800 which I assume had a 5.3. Could've been a 4.8 for all I know as it was a cheap truck

Its a tossup, both are horrible untuned. The hemi has more power but crappy trans tuning and some torque management, and the 5.3 has a ton of torque management. If I had to choose I would say the hemi would take it. The only stock one I ever ran against was in my stock 2000 honda civic SI, he was a new crew cab 5.7L and that civic killed him bad.

I have rcsb 2010 5.3 with 3.42. Drop in filter and Flow master. My buddy has a 2013 rcsb Hemi with the same mods. From a dead stop and anything under 50 its all him. From 50-100 I can put a half of a truck on him. I was impressed with my little stock 5.3.

Def a tossup, like any truck with enought mods and experience anything is possible. Dont sleep on the hemi rams tho.....I have lost some, and won some. take him to the track, if he backs out, call him a b*tch in front of his friends, if he backs out again then let it go

I work with him two days a week now, so there will surely be some more runs done now that we leave at the same time. We were gonna do a dig run last night but another dude ended up sidetracking him in the parking lot. He admitted last night that my truck gave him more than he could handle, and if I had street tires and stock wheels on he would get smoked badly. Problem is I dont have any traction with street tires so I wouldn't be able to do any dig runs or 20 mph roll runs. His truck has more in it, but he isn't very experienced with running it yet. I have almost talked him into going to the track.
