Default anyone ever paint or coat their hood insulator?

just curious...
bought a new one today and damn they seem awfully fragile...
was wondering if spray can undercoating, high-temp paint or something else could be applied w/o ruining it?

I dont think parish had one on the twin turbo, and had no paint trouble, just for some sort of heat refrence.

thanks Dave...
I would have painted my old one but it has rips in it from shredded belts (& water pump pulleys)...

NHolds-
you have pics of a painted one?
you using high-temp paint or just regular flat?
