Bare Metal Paint Job!

Bare Metal Paint Job!
This is sort of truck related, but I still feel it applies. What do you all think about vehicles that are bare metal?
I went to a show this weekend and there were some rides there that were under construction. They had extenssive metal work being done on them, so naturally they were bare metal. Anyway, I know it might seem sort of "rat rod-ish", but here in AZ they don't rust despite being bare metal. I asked the dude how long had his car been like that and he said about 2 months. He even washes it quite a bit. He said he washes it mainly to get the finger prints off, because those will rust.
Anyway opinions are like ********, so I know everyone has one. Let's hear 'em!

A while back I had to repaint the roof of my car. I took the paint off with a stripping wheel and was left with bare metal and no time to paint it that day. So I took a rag and some diesel and coated my roof to protect from rust. It looked really awesome in the daylight.
I like it most of the time.

Yeah, some guys actually do the whole clear coat thing in Cali. I've been seriously looking into this, obviously not for my truck, but for my car.
I'm still heavily spinning wrenches on my car, and I'm tired of having to worry about the paint. It's not perfect, it has its scratches and dings, none of which I did, but I think this would make it look unlike any other first gen out there.
Another thing some people do is use Dupont metal etching, and you apply it like you're washing the car. Dry it off, before it dries on its own. It coats and seals the metal very well from what I hear.

I've seen a car, i cant remember what kind... but it had tribals that were coving about 50% of the car laid out in bare metal. They sanded it down and took a grinder to it to give it a pattern look, then cleared over it. It definitely looked bad ***.

i think for a rat rod would look cool. Maybe do a nice metal job and put a clear coat on it like everyone else said and put a flame job on top of the bare metal that would look crazy!!
