Cables Snapped/ Water Spots
I have a 2001 Chevy Silverado. The other day I lowered my tailgate and the cables snapped. Has this happened to anyone else or is it just my dumb luck? Also, I have water spots along the right side of my truck. What do you recommend to get rid of them?

if the water spots are a recurring problem [parked by sprinklers], go to your local boat supply or watercraft dealer. they have several brands of water spot remover, one i've used is "ducky", just spray on wipe off. test in inconspicuous area first, and don't apply when paint is hot, it tends to mess up your wax job, but have'nt had any problems other than that. another thing i've used that works great is "black magic detailer" , use a california duster first, just spray and wipe. leaves a great shine and cleans well. you can get that anywhere.

go to www.chevrolet.com/owners and it tells about the recall. print that up and carry it to your dealership to get temp cable replacements. once your real letter comes, go back and get the new and improved cables. a lot of us are having the cables break.
