Re: checkmate flush mount
Hey TGO2Z71,
I wouldn't recommend that cover unless they have changed alot.I had one on a 85 silveraldo and when the truck flexed it chipped the paint on the inside of the bed where it fits flush.I have a ******* over the rail and I love it.
Thanks,
Mike

I really like the look of the flush top. I have seen many over the top style bed covers and they scuff the paint and sometimes wear the paint down.
I think its just like anything else.. with the right install and care Im sure it will be fine.
Let us know how it goes.

Re: checkmate flush mount
Whenever you install any tyoe of a bedcover the seals rub and rub off some paint. I would suggest putting on some 3m clear tape. If you do it right you wont be able to see it hardly at all and protects your paint. If you are planing on getting a bed cover and are interested in this tape I can take a picture of it or maybe even sell you some. I can also maybe help you with some instructions on it. We had it on our old 94 Silverado and we had a bed cove ron it for about 6 years and it only wore the paint in one spot where it ae the tape off.

I have a *******.It has been on the truck for 3.5 years and it has not rubbed the paint off.It does have a line where the seal lies but you can buff that off no problem.
Thanks,

Re: checkmate flush mount
I have that exact cover. The cover looks the best but doesn't seal at all and the paint or the fiberglass on top from the manufactor has chipped in a couple of places and the paint around the bed rail is dulling from the weather stripping that comes with it. for looks it is the best but for function it sucks.

It's junk. Like the old addage says...you get what you pay for. Spend a little more money on a different cover. My Checkmate cover was out of square out of the box, it leaks terribly, and the fiberglass fibers are coming through the top now. Not to mention the cover itself soaks up water and has caused bulging.
