the undercover one is $600.

i was going to get the extang RT but then realized it couldn't be locked. i may just get the lebra. seems to be the only one in my price range that can lock.

and should i block the stake holes before i put the cover on?

For the record I had a Checkmate cover. Key word being "had". I don't think I will ever buy a cover from them again. The cover was heavily out of square fresh from the box and the cover leaked pretty bad, not that the cover was intended to stop all water but still. Then after a couple years the styrofoam core started to expand in spots and caused bulging through the fiberglass top and bottom.

Exactly I had one on my old S10 and it was the exact same way. POS, you get what you pay for, for sure. A soft cover is only good to keep the snow out in your case, if you need any security dont get a soft cover.

is there a soft cover that can not be taken off the rail without lifting the tailgate? i was looking at the lebra one but then saw that it just peels off the rail anyway.

whats the cheapest hard cover excluding the checkmate?

i just called checkmate and they changed the fiberglass design a year ago to a more heavier duty one. the soft one is not available since they moved to a new place and are redesigning it for a release in 2008
