In dash monitor and DVD recomendations??
I'm interested in a motorized monitor (at least 7") in a combination AM/FM/CD/DVD player. Who has one in their truck and would they recommend it or not. What is the best size to go with, a single DIN seems to be the most popular, although I have seen several DIN and a half units. Price is also a concern, so if you could tell me what you paid or what I should expect to pay, and where is the best to buy from. All info appreciated. Thanks.

in dash monitor and dvd recomendation
I had a Panasonic unit (in dash, motorized 7" monitor) that I removed recently to install an Alpine IVA D901, I paid $1250.00 on Ebay, the guy had it in his Hummer for 2 weeks and he didnt like the way the sceen blocked the a/c vents when it was out.So he bought an Eclipse flush mount monitor instead. Just make sure that the one that you buy will play MP3's and CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW because alot of them out there don't. Like the panasonic unit that I had was a Great piece but it only played the "store bought" CD's and DVD's. Hope this helps............

If I was in the market for one I would get the Pioneer AVIC-N1. In my opinion it is the best flip screen ever made. It is touchscreen, DVD,voice activated navigation, vehicle dynamics, rear view camera option. You can split screen any 2 of the funtions as well. My buddy owns a custom audio place and he runs it and praises it. There are some other good ones out but the AVIC-N1 is the daddy! I think they go for like $1700 on the high side!

For reliability.... I'd go with the upper model Pioneer units. The AVIC-N1 is a great full package for the price.
The Eclipse units have a better picture though. Most of the ones I have sold didn't have noise and they have a great 3yr warranty when installed by a dealer. They just have some quirks they need to work out this year IMO... Otherwise the only thing I use lately is Eclipse decks, due to the sound quality. The double din DVD units are not sound quality pieces though.
