Default Does anybody know where I can find this hood:

So, I just dropped the silverado off at the body shop, and pointed out some of the bad corrosion under the hood near the latch pin. He said he because of the extent of the rust, he wouldn't feel comfortable just welding a new plate on, and he recommended a new hood.

I remember on one of those Spike TV shows a cowl induction hood. It was Chevelle style, so right near the windshield was a vaccuum activated louver that would open with throttle. Anybody know where i can find it?

My body shop guy kept talking about CAPA certified steel hoods... I wonder if he'd put in the fiberglass hood... Also, I wonder if this thing would give me any problems quality wise (cracking, paint chipping... etc.)

Then there's the question.... how would it look on a stock 99 silverado? and do i really want this instead of the navigation?

I wouldn't personally go with fiberglass and theres no way I'd spend 800 on it, but thats just me. That cool flappy thing isn't going to do anything functional that a traditional cowl hood will and is going to cost you twice the money.

Yeah, I guess I'll save the money for my kenwood navigation.... 800 is steep... plus shipping.... and painting... I'll stick with my $100 aftermarket replacement option...

Other than my engine swap, the navigation is the best mod I ever did to my truck. I use that thing all the time!
