Next day and still excited about these things. I turned up the torsion bars last night, I am driving it today on the old tires to make sure there is no new noises or anything unusual. I drove 15 miles of windy bumpy roads on the way to work this morning and the only noise I heard is when I first moved the truck as it settle down the first little bit. The ride isn't any different. Tonight I might add rear blocks.

I marked off what I need to trim off with tape last night. I wanted to wait and look at it a few times before I do anything. Looking at it again, I really don't think anyone will even notice that anything was trimmed off.

Free is better than good. And when free IS good, then you've scored. The tires you took off were probably Bridgestone Potenzas. I liked them, but I've heard people call them Pretenders.

No, feel free to look them up in any calculator like this one http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoTireMath.dos, they are 34.8.

Ok, well, bring a measuring tape! I will tell you right now it's over 35 inches tall.

Also, did you miss this at the top of the screen

"The results of this calculator are based on the mathematical equations of the sizes entered, not the actual tire specs provided by the tire manufacturers. Please refer to the guides supplied by manufacturers for exact specifications.
Not for use with high flotation sizes, i.e. 31x10.50R-15."

According to that my P265/70R16's are only a little over 30 inches tall, but mine stand a whisker over 32. The metric aspect ratio is about the dumbest thing ever. I understand how and why, but it's still stupid. Give me a freakin measurement and be done.

Info from goodyear

LT285/75R18 129Q BSL 7.5 - 9.5 8.00 11.3 35.1 4,080 @ 80

Thanks bud, kinda kills that hole boring truck look! Oh, thanks for the help loading them in the back of the truck. Once mounted on the wheels, they wouldn't roll in and out of the back of the truck. They hung on the back door. They appeared to grow an inch, once mounted with air.

FINALLY, I got my lug nuts. I got my wheels and tires on the truck tonight, and took the truck for a drive. Everyone kept saying these were going to be noisy and rough riding, boy where they wrong. They truck rides great and the tires are as quiet as any new street tire would be.

I found some driving lights on craigslist for $20. I thought they might go right along with the new wheels and tires.

I put the lights on this weekend.

I wasn't real thrilled with the look at first, but now with the wheels and tires I love them. Sorry for the crappy night pics.

Here is one I took from my cell phone just before I ate supper.

I also got some other free stuff this week. I was tired of the wind, leaves, and rain coming in on the one side of my carport. So I called a friend, he had some rubber roofing material and the was covered on both sides with vinyl. I need to finish it up, but for free, I like it. We thought the roof was white, boy were we wrong.
