Not saying you're one of those guys, but it just irritates me when I have "customers" come in to the shop and I educate them on product for sometimes hours (literally) and they come in 2 weeks later with the same product they bought online for less money.

If you cannot compete with it, thats not our problem. Consumers will go especially in this day and age, where they can get the most bang for your buck. Gone are the days of customer survive rules above all else. Besides, the markup on audio products is ridiculous.

One more thing, you guys are really missing out on not having a closed cell foam installed over your sound deadening product.

I understand your rant against me and would like to explain myself. I'm not some punk out kid that raps to m&m asking you a million stereo questions so i can blare my stereo in the school parking lot.
I have a mortgage too and when I spend thousands of dollars on my truck I need a budget. The two local shops were 2.5X the price I got online. I also told them BEFORE they talked with me that I had found it on ebay and the salesman said go for it and that he couldn't compete.

I like supporting Local business and Know what your talking about but up here in the boonies I'm online most most of the time. I pay more for tires to support a local shop that my family has gone two for 30 years, etc..

I never talked with a salesman about how it works. As you can see I covered almost every square inch which prolly isn't necessary. The whole Dynamat process alone prolly wasn't needed over the rhino either so I bought a bulk pack cheap to give it a try. Crutchfield has How-tos that would **** me off if I was a stereo shop owner.

There's two stores in my area;
The one store I have spent thousands at years ago building up my S-10 and now there under new mangement and I'm not going back, My *** is still hurting from them.

The other store doesn't sell dynamat and sells roadkill. I have bought hundreds of Dollars worth of Hometheater equipment as well as all the stereo equip for my GMC, so there not hurting. I'm not about the buy there Roadkill for 2.5X's the cost I found Dynamatm extreme on ebay.

Also the Rhino cost about the price of a Small bed. I bought it to them stripped and prepped. All they had to do was mask it off, etc..

Are you wearing clothes? You know how much Holister or Abercrombie paid for that shirt you're wearing? About 3 dollars. I don't see everyone buying that stuff online.

Hey, if you don't give a **** about your local economy good for you. Don't go crying when your local town sucks and your car audio choices blow.

What do you do for a living?

Ignorance is bliss.

It's one thing if the local businesses suck or don't carry the products you want etc... Ebay has its place, IMO it's for getting used stuff and things you can't find elsewhere.

I have customers all the time come in the shop with "Why are you so high, I can find that same JL 12w3 for almost half as much online."

My response?

I'll match the price. I will, I will match just about any price on car audio equipment, online or not. If it's below my cost I wont, I can't loose money but here is the deal that goes with it.

1. Get out of my store. You can't demo the equipment, hear it or look at what you are getting. You buy it for that price and I'm going to charge you the same they charge you for shipping. I won't charge tax, but I am going to charge the 75.00 shipping/handling charge.

2. I'll mail it to you when I get a chance. It may be a week before I send it out, but who cares I already have your money.

3. If you have any questions about it, don't call or come in, email me and i'll get back to you when I can.

4. If it breaks, don't even think about bringing it into the shop for another one. You have to ship it back to me (you pay the freight of course) and don't even think about dropping it on the door step. When I get it back i'll send it off when I get a minute.

5. Anything that had a manufacturer's warranty that I sold you does not. I will give you a receipt with it, but it will blantantly show that it was sold online. If at any time my "online" company goes under, don't come bitching to me when you have a problem with the product and the manufacturer doesn't warranty it. No reputable car audio company supports online sales.

6. Make sure you give me the exact part number you need. If you don't specify D4 or D2 coils. I'm going to send you one of each. If you order the wrong ones? Sucks to have that 20% restocking fee plus shipping on the others.

Do you guys see where i'm coming from?

It's free enterprise, buy stuff from where you want, it's your choice. But I know that some of you reading this have walked into a good local shop and demo'd product and then went and bought it online. It's just not right to go into somewhere, soak up hours of an employees time and then go buy it online to save a couple bucks. Trust me, it's not that good of a deal when you need something. Also, if you develop a good relationship with a local shop they will make you some awesome deals. I have guys I sell product to for cost plus 20% because they come in a lot and are good customers to deal with.

First of all
Second, who the hell are you? Clothing is different than audio equipment if you didn't notice, you have to try it on so you know it fits. Yea, I understand your side, but understand ours, if we can get the same exact thing cheaper elsewhere, we will. This is America, you can't handle competition...then get out.

Nice attitude to have
Don't bitch at us because the people in your town don't "give a **** about your local economy"

Exactly. The consumer is always right and will go where he can get the best deal. If you are getting screwed by ebay then it's time to find another field or quit marking your stuff up.
