Where's the Beef?

I was wondering the other day. With all the technological advances we have today, engines that are computer controlled, can run on 4 cylinders at cruise, suspension that can adjust depending on if you want to cruise or have a sport ride, and so on.
WHY is it that they still offer new trucks with a drop in bed liner?
Brilliant idea! To keep from scratching your bed when you tow, lets put in this drop in bed liner that scratches your bed all day long!
I LOVE spray in bed liner and cant wait to get one, Gotta have my bed repainted tho because the top of it is scratched to hell from the drop-in.
