They look good. I think I'm gonna do that to mine one of these days. Not trying to jack the thread but that plastic guard on the top of your tailgate, was it stock? I've got one of the big ones that extends out and I dont like it. That and what did you use to candy them? Some people use testors but I have no idea how or what to use.

I like it, looks cleaner. I'm also interested in how you candy the lights. Ever considered installing 2003+ taillights? To answer your question about the tailgate guard, wes00silverado, it is stock. I have the same one on my 2004 RCSB. Correct me if I am wrong, I think that tailgate guard only came on work trucks and base model Silverados.

on the taligate cap being stock. It comes standard on all GMC's I'm pretty sure.
To answer y'alls question, I used Testors Candy Apple Red model paint, along with a lot of sanding and some automotive grade clear, but you can use any kind of clear. I thought about the 03+ but like the smoother look of the 99-02's. I have some black TYC tails as well, but just got kind of tired of them and wanted to try something different. I saw a thread on how to candy them on GMFullsize so I decided to try it.

Those candied tails look great! I was thinking of getting some silverado tails then reconcidered because of cost and having to modify the wiring harness. I like what you have done and I might do something similar. Great idea! The tailgate cap you see on his truck, I believe, came stock on all GMCs. You can find them on E-bay for about 20 bucks. That is were I found mine. I wonder what the tails would look like painted black?
