My step-dad wants to know how to disable the automatic headlight feature on his 2003 Tahoe. Ya know, so the lights don't automatically come on when its dark outside.

On that model you should just be able to turn the light switch back to the left and it should cut them off...

No they stay on, even while in the "off" position at night.

I know on my 02 silverado if i push the overhead light button (the one on the side next to fog lights) four times in a row it will go into what i like to call "stealth mode" no headlights. thats the only way to do keep the lights off in the dark that I know of

Yeah that works, but onlt temporarily.

The next time you start it up it goes back to normal. There has to be a way to permanantly disable this feature. I assume there is a sensor somewhere to tell it that its dark, but I'm not sure.

This is how I did it on my old S-10..I'm sure it would probably work on a FS, just might have to experiment w/ different resistors.

i pulled the fuse marked drl (daytime running lights ) but this was on a 98 model I hate those lights

Yeah, but DRLs and AHLs are 2 different things. On my S-10 I had to pull the DRL fuse for the AHL mod to even work. I don't think that would be a problem on a FS because they have a seperate DRL bulbs (they don't use the reg. headlights like alot of other GMs).
