how to fix keyed paint
some a$$hole keyed my truck today. I parked it on the street at the mall and some [ock sucker with a truck similar to mine parked next to me. When I came back to my truck, there was one continuous scratch from rear quarter panel to front fender, all the way to the primer. Not to sound stuck up or anything, but I know it was that ghetto fu{k. All he had done to his tahoe was rims and I know he was hating on my truck.
Well now I gotta get it fixed, and I'm wondering how body shops usually handle keyed cars. Do they just spot paint it or do I need a whole new paint job. What should I expect as far as price? Thanks guys.

speaking from a similar experience. You will more than likely have to repaint at least one side of your truck from the front fender, maybe even the hood, all the way to the rear quarter panel in prder to get the best possible paint match.

mine's been keyed, each panel that was keyed had to be resprayed. I just paid my deductable and the ins took care of the rest. One whole side of mine had to be repainted, it was right about a grand for the job.

yeah I had some "ugly" words written on mine by my ex-wife.... typical ex story I guess.... she hated my truck. I used to spend more time under the hood because the truck wouldnt talk back. all I have to say is I have ridden the truck for way more miles and way fewer problems....
I had a friend re-paint the door for cheap. All I bought was paint, and helped him out one Sat. (and of course a 12-pack of his favorite brew)
-in your case, I would let the insurance take care of it. if it is the lenth of the truck, it is going to be hard to match the two sides perfectly. Paint shops use an optical eye that matches the mix and spits you out this slip of paper that tells you exactly how to mix the paint to match it 99.9% If you want it 100% you are going to have to spray the whole thing... and dont **** the ladies off, your paint will last longer.
