Default how much lift for 33's?

I have a 2000 silverado 2wd and am wondering how much lift it would take to run, well I know I have 16's and they don't make 33's but what size would be comparable. Body lift or suspension?
thanks Will

suspension. I beleive on a 2wd you will need either a 4 or 6 inch lift to clear 33's. Fabtech makes some good lifts for the 2wd. comparable size would be 305/75/r16 I think or 315/75/r16. metric always confused me. Also the reason I would go with suspension instead of body lift is due to the harsher ride. aslo alot of your brake lines and other lines will have to be extended.

You can get away with a 3" body and 305/75's but Chevy's don't take well to body lifts..... there are quite a few round town done that way though but they are 4wd. With a 2wd you might need 4-6" not sure...... Fabtech or Pro Comp are the way to go for a full 6".... but if that isn't an issue then the Rancho kit is nice (it's a 6" kit but in reality it is only around 4" total)

33's are 305/75 give or take but really really close Also I would go with suspension and be carfull because when you do the front end you will need new rims with at least 4.5 backspacing I think. I would also recomend doing all the suspension at the same time so go with the 6" kit about $700 I think then you wont have to mess with it anymore. one more thing if you do it your self try VERY hard not to break the grease pockets when you seperate the ball joints. (will need grease every 2 weeks or make lots of noise)

Fabtech is pretty good

When you say not to break the grease pockets, where are they located. I am not that competent with front end suspension, so please try to explain it. I have a lot fo noise from the front end. I did not install the lift myself, so I don't know if they broke it our not. Are you talking about the boot on top of the A arm?

If you talk to any of the major tire dealers in your area you will find that the 285/75's are alllllmmmooosssstttt as tall as the 305/70's. They are just narrower. I read in an article in Four Wheeler that the 285/75 is about 1/4" lower than a 33" tire. But it is only 9.5" wide, or something like that. I have run both on a '97 and a 2K silverado. I would go with th 285's. The narrower tire won't rub. And you won't need a lift kit for the same look. That is just my .02 though.

I ran 33" tires on a 16x10 rim on a '02 Z71 with a 3" body lift, I think its the width of the rim I ran into a problem with because of the front airdamn that I had to trim up, so that'd be 5" taller than a stock 2WD, so I'm pretty sure you'd have to have at least a 6" suspension lift to clear 'em

I already have aftermarket rims so the spindle idea really wouldn't work I don't believe but thanks for the info.

I have 285/75's on my Z71 with no lift and they work great... no rubbing at all.
