Reverse stock plug going into the ballast.
I had the sams problem, wired them up and they wouldnt fire. Luckily i heard how sometimes you have to flip the plug.

and my windshield is around 58% or so light transmission..Just flip the connector from the truck where it goes into the ballast. Not quite as snug, but they never came loose for me.
