Looking for experienced advice on tire info please

stock mine was 255/70/16s, I put 285/60/18s on esky's on all 4s. I couldn't believe how bad it killed performance, gas mileage too. I would guess the combo of increased rolling resistance and weight did it. I'm thinking of going back to a stock tire/wheel combo myself. I like the GMC aluminum 17s.

That being said, I think you're idea of skinnier tires up front isn't a bad idea at all. Did you end up with the 285s on all 4 corners?

Ouch really wasnt trying to hurt the performance/mileage with my ratio decision. Lately ive been getting the show bug anyway thanks to all you guys here. If you dont mind id rather wait to post some pics so i can shine her all up. With that said i need to wait on my damn new tire to come in from the shop

He put 285/60/16 on his truck. Thats actually shorter then what he had.

You won't lose any performance.. The shorter tire will actually be like putting a lower gear ratio in your truck and should accelerate a little faster.

gentlemen ive still got a problem, im having a good about of bouncing in the truck at about 60mph with these 285/60r16s, should i go to a different shop to get a second balancing opinion, or should i return the tires and go with the 255/70r16s which is what is stock for the truck

ive got some bald *** 285/60-18 GY Forteras on my truck now and they ride just as good as the 275/55-20 pirelli atrs i had. the GYs also dont flat spot like my pirellis did.

get the BF GOODRICH 295/50/16 i ran those tires in my stock wheels...........they look great............I won't use nothing else than the BFG's..........

I'd go get them balanced somewhere else. Then you might look into the driveshaft and or brakes.

well i just wanted to say thanks for all those with advice, my tire problem is fixed, with that being said i just went ahead and got rid of the goodyear gtII and when with some michelins.

Default Eagle GTII - Shaking the truck

I have had the same shaking problem at 60 MPH on my 06 Silverado from 275x45x20, Goodyear Eagle GTII. They were new tires so I immediately returned to the tire shop and changed to Michelins.
