Made my own Cal Tracs traction bars
I finally got done making my own traction bars (Cal Tracs). Here are some pics of them from scrap metal to polished and painted.
Started with 1/8 thick metal plate from work, and the bars are 1" round, 30" long and 1/8 thick.
Made a templet of the brackets, cleaned them up on my bench grinder, and drilled the holes to fit. Also wire brushed the old paint off the bars.
Got all the hardware from Summit racing and Lowes
[B]Heres is the final product.
I first cleaned everything up real good, primed everything, and painted. I painted the base with brillant silver, and painted the color with aniodized red. then I cleared everything. I installed the brackets and "U" bolts on the truck so at least it would be drivable until I install everything.
The prep work really paid off on the paint work. I was going to have everything chromed, but it would have cost me $300, so I just painted everything myself. I really wasn't hard to do. I took my time on this project, and did alittle at a time on the weekends and after work. Hope you guys like them. I'm sure they will help with my 60ft. times at the track, plus I will need them when I install the nitrous kit.

Thanks man. I like to do little things like this. My truck sits in the garage the majority of the time, so I have time do things like this. I plan on doing alot of things to my baby in the winter time. I also am going to make these too.

also just curious, how tall are those triangles that sit under the axel?? 3-4 inches?
