I jacked the truck up with the hood up into a 1/4-20 bolt and did a good one.
It's deeper than it looks in the pic. More than just clear coat.

I have some GM nail polish type stuff and would like to hear how you guys would go about it.

i put a scratch like that on my new truck a couple months ago, and like you I had color matched nailpolish paint. Its very tricky, as you have to put a thin layer and let it dry, then repeat. wet sand with 1000 grit then 2000, and repeat as necessary. after its filled in to your standards, buff and coat with wax. BELIEVE me, its not easy, and mine didnt come out to well.

^ Covered very well. Might be worth investing in something like the Langka touchup kit, although I can't say my results have been all that stunning. Work like this is painstaking, frustrating, and even with quality work the final result will be underwhelming.

Another option might be one of the mobile paint repair shops. They specialize in stuff like this, generally with outstanding results, and are quite reasonable...usually less than $200. One of my wife's coworkers had this done on the rear bumper of his black Infiniti. I was amazed at the results.

In our area there is a guy that goes around to the new & used car dealers. He color matches & uses a air brush. Looks pretty good when he is done. You might call a few used car lots & see if they can refer you to someone like this?

We used to have a guy that came around to our dealership and worked out of his van doing small touch ups like that. He did great work and his pricing was very reasonable

You need to use a product called langka, essentially how it works is that you take the Gm touch up paint, blob it on thick and intentionally make it higher than the rest of the surface and let it set for a day. You then follow it up with langka and the plastic card that comes with it. You then will rub down or erase a layer at a time until perfectly flush with the rest of the paint.
