Can the lightly textured cap and valance be smoothed and painted without worrying about the paint chipping or falling off?
Smoothed caps are available (as you suggested), and are the best option...though expensive.

You can smooth the parts you have with sandpaper, but it is a pain to do. There are a lot of threads on here about painting bumper plastics. Do a search.

My valence is painted, and I've had absolutely no problems at all. Sand it down until you get tired and use a paint adhesion promoter. Then paint it. Again, do a search and you'll find a lot of good info on this.

Looks awesome man! Like John said, looks much better as the insert rathern then an over-lay. Wouldnt mind one of these myself, but goes against keeping my truck as stock looking outside as possible for the sleeper effect when my turbo goes on.

Thanks guys, I'm glad my best friend told my wife which one to order for my mom. I was expecting an overlay, but I'm so glad it wasn't. They were only $35 for the set too.

Thanks Jason! Also, thanks for the text on Christmas. I'm looking forward to cruising/racing some trucks with you and Jamie this spring.

Thanks Alex! I love it; it's the first thing I've done for the appearance (besides de-badging it).

Do you have a link to it? The only APS grill I found for 99-02 doesn't look like yours. Thanks!
