Default New Truck / Old Questions

I just got my 04 Silverado EC. I have a whopping 182 miles on it but I've got my 20's and catback on already.

It looks like it's ready for a drive in the desert though and it's my street daily driver. I really want to drop it a tad. I'm thinking a 2/3 drop because I don't want to mess with notching the frame and don't really want the expense of air bags at this point.

1. Will I really notice a difference with a 2/3 drop?
2. What kit would you guys recommend?
3. Am I correct in assuming anything more than 3" in the back will require notching or at least air bags?

Thanks for you input and if I can ever get a picture hosted somewhere, I'll add one to my sig.

You can drop it 5 in the back with no notch. I had mine at 5 with no notch at all until I went to a 6 then I notched.

That is a sweet looking truck. Okay, so straighten me out though. With a 5" rear drop was it hitting the frame? How did you drop it? I have read and read and don't quite have a perfect understanding of the different means.

Some kits use a hanger, some use different springs. Any suggestions?

I'll be doing it myself so I don't want any welding involved but I can do everything else.

Thanks for the input.

My 3/5 was 3" coils up front, 3" leafs and shackles in the rear. Now I have the same thing but I have 2" hangers and the shackles set to 1" which makes it about a 6 in the rear. I notched it when I added the hangers. But when I had the 3/5 I didn't have it notched. Yeah it did hit the frame every now and then. I had the button bump stops though. I had about an inch of clearance from the axle to the frame maybe more or less. If you're going with a 4 you won't have to notch at all.

Oh by the way this setup is mostly geared towards peformance and handling. It doesn't ride the greatest! If you're looking for a factory ride I'd go with control arms and/or spindles.
