Default Overloads?

I was thinking of taking my overloads out to level the truck out. My question is, are the overloads just for heavy loads in the bed? Do they affect towing weight at all? I was unsure about this. I need about an inch to be level in the back..has anyone taken there overloads out and if so how much did it drop the rear? Thanks in advance.

The helper spring are just that - they help in overload situations
I have removed them on numerous trucks inc mine
It will drop it 1/2" maybe slightly more but not much
If towing - how heavy ? car trailer - rethink it
jet ski - no problem....
I put 40 bags of mulch in the back of my 91
and it did squat it
Was not on the axle stops - but def set the rear end down.

I took mine out and got almost an inch i think. It squats alot more now if i put anything in the back. Not sure if it affects towing weight.
