Painted Bow Tie
I have the stock plastic bow tie and I want to paint it either black or red, my truck is the Victory Red but i wonder if the black might look good..? Anyone do this? if so did you have to prep the bow tie or just spray paint it?
Thanks,
ryan

I simply took mine and sanded it with 800 grit, primed and sealed it, then painted over the top just like anyother part. So far after 1 year it still looks good. I'll try and post a pic if possible.

i would paint it red to match your truck. i painted mine last year. it looks so much better. i sanded, primed, and painted. give it plenty of time to dry in between coats. i tried putting mine on too soon and ended up putting a nice finger print in the middle of the bowtie. i had to scrape off all the paint and start over.
here is a pic. not the greatest pic.

I had mine painted black before the billet bowtie and painted grille. It lasted well, and I used the same method to paint my grille and have had no problems yet. The only thing that went wrong with the bowtie was the paint chipped but it was hit by a rock so hard that it actually put a 2" crack the bowtie. I just scuffed it with some fine grit sandpaper, cleaned, primered, painted, and clear coated. I also used adhesion promoter between every coat and before the primer.
