Default painted door handles / tail gate handle

Well i found handles painted black, $70 for the pair and another $70 just for the tail gate. Are these decent prices? About how much would it cost to just have my stock ones painted?
I have an 06 silverado ext cab (black)

or is it even possible to easily do this myself? (i have no knowledge of what i would have to do)

do them yourself IMO...

sand down the texture, use lots of filler primer and sand and sand and sand... LOL... wetsand and keep everything nice and smooth... put a few coats of your color on, sanding lightly between coats, and then put a few coats of clear on. wetsand the clear, compound them, buff, wax and install!!!!!

thats it in a nutshell... just so you are aware, you are gonna be sanding on them for a while.

just buy em, sanding em is stupid, youll never get it to look as good as they do, wow $70... i can see maybe trying to do the tailgate handle since its $70 itself, but just buy the door handles

i wouldnt say its a good deal, thats just the avg price. honestly, if you took em to a body shop and said, do wat you gotta do to paint these and have em smooth, id say paint labor would probably be about $50 or $60 for the door handles. i dunno why the gate handles are so expensive, $70 sounds right for one but its so damn much for one handle. but if i were you id DEF just buy the door ones, youd have to ask a body man how much it would be to do the gate one, i can guarantee you itll be least $40 though

IMO...for the work involved in doing it yourself, I'd tend to just pay the $140 and get 'em all. Unless you've got a good relationship with a shop, I doubt if anyone would do the tailgate handle for less than $70 and, as stated, doing this yourself will involve a LOT of sanding.

I ordered the same parts a couple of months ago and that was the prices I paid at GM Parts Direct. One thing to keep in mind if you are going to get the parts painted. The tailgate bezel had double sided tape on it so you sill have to buy that again and when I took off my old bezel it broke into pieces. There is a retaining piece that hold the bezel on that I did not know about and it broke while removing.

yea i broke mine off to when i tried to take it off casue i didnt know bout that piece, i think you have to go at it from the inside first. imo buy the painted ones, not only that, you gotta take your handles off wait for them to be painted. with buyin em, you take yours off and swap on the new ones
