In all honestly, I probably wouldn't warranty it if it happend at my store.

You have to remove the case to paint it, so you could damage the interal parts when you do that.

Voted. If anything, polish it to a nice shine. Not a fan of painted alternators.

Summit Racing sells painted alternators, so I wonder if it really effects the heat transfer that much. Hummmm.

I vote to powder coat it.

IF your alternator died, you can just swap cases. Go to the store and pick up your new one. You will have to "pay" for it (kind of like a retainer fee) but make it clear you are doing it on a warranty exchange. Go home, swap cases, and install. Then resemble the "old" alternator parts in the "new" housing, and return it.
