Sounds like me. I seldom cut corners on my wife's or parent's vehicles, but I rarely ever pay full price on my stuff. I just put all new tires on my wife's suburban, but I can't tell you when the last time I bought tires new for anything of mine, probrably 2001 or 2002, back in my single days. I have a friend with a salvage yard, I will find some tires that still have the stubs, then order whatever I need new to make a full set, usually just one tire.
I got lucky on the malibu, I picked up 4 wheels that had 2 new skinny tires on them, and I had 2 new wide tires off the front of my wife's suburban, total for wheels and tires $100. I like the skinny-fat look on just about anything.
Congrats on the truck, awesome way to wheel and deal.
