pics of painted bowtie and no moldings
finally got around to painting my bowtie. the pictures don't do justice. also, i removed the stock grille from behind the speed grille. it looked stupid before when i had both the stock and speed grille on. also, i posted a few weeks ago these pics of the moldings removed from the doors

I already tried to remove to 1500 from the door and the color is lighter than the truck.now i have to wait till i get a paint job to do all that. i hate the damn molding on the doors.
what i did to remove the 1500 was get fish line and saw through the glue on the back part. it works best if you keep it wet w/ soapy water.

Rob, i'll get a new truck 1st before i fork over all that money for rims and tires.
the paint may look lighter when you 1st take off the 1500 badge, but after it was all said and done, you can't notice any more. i can't notice there was something there before and my truck is 5 years old. plus the dark carmine red is a dark color that you think would fade.
the door moldings are easier to take off than the badges. the badges use like a black adhesive glue whcih is very tough to get offf. the door moldings are easier because there is double sided 3M tape that holds them on. here is what i did:
- heat area with blow dryer
- use fishing line to saw between plastic and clear coat
- use blowdryer and credit card to scrape tape/glue off
- gasoline on toothbrush/rag to get rest of adhesive off clear coat
- 3M rubbing compound
- 3M polish (machine glaze)
- wax

I removed my mouldings when my truck was a week old, but I used an actual heat gun which gets much hotter than a blow dryer. Most of the double stick tape stays on the moulding. I then used my fingers and rubbed the remainng tape into a ball or clump and then used some 3M rubbing compound. The heat gun will save you a lot of time. It took me less than three hours to do all moulding and emblems. If the tape doesn't get hot enough, it will be a huge headache. Also, if there is a color difference, you could try wetsanding and buffing to bring out the color. It may work as new cars and trucks have clear coats which usually dull before the paint.
