Has anyone taken the moldings off of a 2003 silverado? I have been considering it but I ma not sure what it will look like or what to use to keep form ruining the paint. Does any one have any pics or how to's and products needed? Thanks

I took mine off like some of the people in the link said. I used a heat gun, applied even heat throughout the entire moulding, then went to one corner of it and put alittle more heat. Then just started pulling the moulding while keeping the heat applied to the bend that forms when your pulling the moulding. Took about 10 mins to do both sides. 99% of the glue came off with the trim. For the rest I just rubbed it and it balled up and came off. Then a good polish and a little wax and it looked alot better.

Oh and hello to everyone since this is my first post. Been lurking for a few days. Pretty informative site here.

Its kindof hard to tell in this pic but it really looks better.

welcome to the site.

i have a 1999 with the dark carmine red color (looks like maroon). i am a little reluctant to take off the molding since the truck is 5 y/o now. not sure how much fading occurred over the years. should i take it off or leave it on?

I would say that your right to assume that it has faded. Im not really sure. It probably depends mostly on how your vehicle has been treated over the past 5 years, (garaged, how often waxed, etc.) Plus your goes the lenght of the vehicle where as mine only cover the door. (why I dont know)
