Whatever you do, use a toothbrush to get down into the texture of the plastic to remove the dried wax. I would use some Meguiars trim cleaner stuff (can't remember the name) because you can usually get it locally.

try being a little more careful when you wax

but seriously try using vinegar and a tooth brush, the acidity will dissolve the wax

You're going to think I'm nuts, but I've sprayed brakleen on a rag and rubbed the white wax/compound off...I wouldn't recommend this method, I just happen to use brakleen for everything. I even have a method, I spray it on the rag and let it evaporate for a few seconds or it may be too strong and cause damage. I've especially used it to remove grease stains from interiors, like light colored rugs. I've found out that it will remove the finish off of ivory colored Lexus instrument panels when trying to remove pen marks though lol.

Toothbrush is a good idea... I think I'll try and find the duplicolor wax remover, and then proceed down the list of recommendations until I get to the peanut butter. Hope I don't make it there though LOL Definitely gonna tape them next time though.
