Will the factory hitch work with the Sir Michaels? Hidden behind the liscense plate? Looks great and I am considering doing it for the same reasons. Weight mostly.

Default Hitch

The factory hitch will not work at all. The factory hitch also bolts up to the rear rear bumper. You will need to purchase a new hideaway hitch the bolts behind the roll pan. They make various towing rated hitches for this particular application. Oh, you will also need the kit for the license plate that allows you to fold the plate down to access the hitch.

Yeah I got to looking and realized there was no way the factory hitch would work. Maybe sometime down the line I will do it but not soon. It does look great but I would have to keep the ability to tow.

Default hitch

The only issue is the weight of what you will be towing with the hidden hitch, I wanted to tow a car and trailor and I was having issues finding something that heavy duty but I was told they are available. The best place to go is a trailor company or your local U-haul etc...
