Default speedo question

I want to get a new gauge cluster that has transmission temp gauge on it. I have heard from this forum that my 99 scsb 5.3 is prewired for the gauge. Is this true. I found a denali cluster that not only has the trans temp but it also has a 120 speedo on it. If I hook that cluster up will the speedo read past 100 mph? Will it work? Any info would very much be appreciated.

Yeah I think I heard that about the 99 models, but I'm not positive. I just put an Escalade cluster in my '00 truck last week, and everything works fine.

I have a 2000 that I put the Escalade gauges in and have zero problems. Looks better, higher speedo and trans temp. One warning, by law you have to record the original miles on a door sticker that should come with the gauges. The other alternative is to have the milage and hour info moved from the old gauges to the new set. That is about $100 proposition and most places require both gauges and a couple days to do it during which the truck won't run. Your dealer should be able to help you find a shop to do it or do a little searching on the 'net. I chose the door sticker. Unfortunely it is only paper and is already showing signs of wear. I think I am going to have a trophy shop make up a metal plate with the same info. I have got numerous compliments on the gauges. They are very cool looking. This was an upgrade carried in Sport Truck I believe as was the Escalade projector beam headlight swap, another one I would like to do but am struggling over the near $400 price tag.

I have the caddy guages in my 00 and they work fine. Not calibration needed for the speedo and the tranny guage works without any hitches. The airbag light will stay on in a 99 but you can pull the face off and put a piece of electrical tape over it if it bothers you.

Anyone got a part # on the guages? Where can I get them at? So what will work, the Denali, the Escalade? What years? Thanks.

I know you are supposed to put the sticker on the door but I put mine on the inside of the glove box door.
