Default Spindles or Coils?

Hey Everyone, I just joined the forum and I'm getting ready to do the paper work on my 2006 GMC Sierra SLE RCSB 2wd Fire Red.

I'm trying to decide how do drop it. I'm pretty much decided on a 2/4.

I've already got 22x9.5 Boss 315 wheels in black with 265/35-22 rubber. It looks pretty funny right now with the smaller tires. Anyway, I can't decide whether I want to do 2" spindles or 2" coils.

I've been told that the spindles will push my wheel and tire out a little bit and that size wheel and tie may not fit using spindles. I would prefer a smoother ride which I think the spindles would give me over the coils.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Mark

Haven't heard of spindles making the wheels stick out further, only increasing your turning radius. You are right about spindles giving a smoother ride though.

Also, look at control arms. I have a set of DJM arms on mine with no complaints. One of the biggest things others complain about with control arms is bumpsteer, but I haven't noticed it to be a problem. Since the factory springs are retained, you will still have a factory like ride.

IMO, With that size tire i'd go with at least a 3/5 drop.
A pic of mine with a 4/6 with 265/35/22s

But to answer your question, spindles.

spindles keep your stock geometry, and ride qualities, ie squishy ride, not making it more firm

Lift spindles will offset your wheels, and you have to have more back spacing than stock

COIL SPRINGS SUCK dont get them. I have had two sets on my truck, and was unhappy with both sets. The first set was cheap and saged too low after a year or so, the 2ed set rode good and kept there hight but one side didnt set in place good and squeaked like a bitch when on a rough back road.
