Stepside tonneau covers

Stepside tonneau covers
What does everybody recommend? I am not wanting a big heavy one. I am leaning towards a soft cover, but I am not sure what brands are good. Does anybody have a soft cover tonneau? I wouldn't mind a low profile, light, paintable hard cover if anybody knows of any that won't break the bank. I will probably get a soft cover though, so what brands are good and how much $$?

I have a Snuglid on my stepside. Maked the truck look a lot better. Fits great, looks great and I have never had any problems with it. What color is your truck? I am going to part out my truck in the next month or so, and I a might be selling it. Shipping would be a pain though since your in Texas.

Hey man my truck is red. I went to your website, nice truck. Out of the fiberglass ones, snugtop is my favorite, because it is low profile, but I couldn't find any places on the internet that sells them. About how much would I expect to pay for a snugtop lid? Thanks dude.

Re: Stepside tonneau covers
I've had both a hard and a soft(what I have right now). They both have their +'s and -'s. I am more partial to the soft one only b/c I get caught in town sometimes having to pick up something that is taller than the lip of the bed. All I have to do is roll it up like a sleeping bag against the cab, tie it, remove cross members and done 3 minutes. The hard one that I had I could never do that with. Granted that the fiberglass ones look better I'm partial to ARE's and are more water tight but I picked the soft cover up off of ebay for $125 shipped and it still looks like new a year and a half later. I got the soft cover b/c at the time money was short and I told my self I would get one later but I ended up likeing it.
Just my 2 cents,

ArticGMC Thanks for the great info. That is what I was looking for. I will probably just get the soft cover because I had to buy a new battery today. I thought I fried the ECM but apparently there is some sort of safety shut off that completely disables the ECM when the battery is malfunctioning. What brand is the tonneau so I will know what to look for on ebay? Thanks again dude.

It was a lund they are going for about $215 on ebay right now. I got mine from a dealer who was liquidating inventory because he was closing his business. The lund isn't a snap down cover. It has a rubber lip that pushes into the rails. It gives it a smooth edge but it's a pain to put back on when cold. It may be that way for all the soft covers though. A tip is to stretch it out over the bed in the sun for about 20 min and then put it on. The vinal stretches a little better. The lund is a tool less install(besides a large hex key) that also means no drilling.

Re: Stepside tonneau covers
I have a Lund snap type and it seems to work pretty good even though it is one of there lower end models. Extang makes really nice cover too. I think it is Extang that has reversable snaps for colder weather that don't require it to be stretched quite as much as in the summer. My opinion, the best looking hard cover is the Aerosport. It has a spoiler-type trailing edge. Here are a couple sites that show it.

Re: Stepside tonneau covers
i have an ARE and it is sweet. The paint on it matches perfect, and it looks really good on the truck. Ive had it now for about 2 years and no problems with the paint or locking mechanism at all. I would recomend it to anyone, specialy on a stepside, heres some pics.
