subtle change
i want to do some little things to my truck to make it more unique, and i wanted to get some second opinions, im at work so i cant get any pics to post right now, but my truck is my avatar and there is also another pic in my garage... im going to take the pinstriping off. im on the fence about removing the "Z71" emblems on the rear quarters any oppinions or thoughts? i am also planning a fuel door either billiet or chrome and im thinking of either blacking out or chroming the Bowties... only ext mods as of now are window tint... if i take the molding off what is underneath?? are there holes to be filled or is the molding held on with adhesive?? eventually im going to have to get it repainted all pearly white but not until i make it faster

remove z71 looks sooooo much better and the molding are held on by double sided tape. there is nothing under it so no holes or anything. debadge the rest of the truck to match nothing like a nice and smooth truck.

Take all the stuff off... youll need something to peel the sticky stuff off with, any body shop has a rubber wheel that gets it done with ease. A nylon string and heat should help you pry off the badging

Take it off. I just got mine back from the body shop(storm damage), and had them leave all the "stuff" off. The only chrome is the front bumper and grill, and the only emblem is the GMC on the grill. It looks like a completely different truck.

thats pretty, wish mine was newer
thanks for all the input guys i think i am gonna strip it... i have a heat gun, the cord isnt hard to get(not quite sure i understand how to use it)
what is this rubber wheel thing and where can i get one??? i sort of like the silverado badge on the tailgate though its small on my truck so im gonna keep that but probably (gloss) black out the bowties... flat black the grill except the chrome strip in the middle... what about the chrome on the back of the mirrors?? is there a good way to start with the molding? i envision peeling it back then running the cord under it holding both sides of the cord and pulling it along the back of the molding??? while applying the heat gun to the back... that about right?

thanks todd ill look that up... i just saw a white 2500HD yesterday pulled up next to me at a BK in jersey... thing looked badass compared to mine, think it had about a 3" lift over mine but could just be how the 2500hd is??? had body color molding no pinstripes did have "4x4" on the back though, had the fender extenders(if thats what they are called) and i finally got to see the HD hood in person, big improvement over mine, looked like how mine should have come from the factory... is that hood a bolt on? if so what years? how about those fender extensions?

1. I hate being like thisbut please do not get a billet or chrome fuel door!
2. I think HD hoods are pretty sweet go with that for sure. You will need HD hood from any 2500 truck that same body style. They do bolt right on. You can search a place called Certifit and they have them pretty cheap!
3. You can also pick up a eraser wheel at NAPA or any store like that and I only have one and demanded 2 trucks with it but they maybe have different sizes?

lol thanks goose ill look in napa next time i go... the fuel door is missing a "stop bumper" so it doesnt sit level with the body panel. it actually indents and im tired of seeing that, unless someone has an extra "bumper" to donate lol
