Default TIRE Thread

OK...time to buy some new treads and curious what everyone's running? I've been running Falcon Zeix 305/50/20 for 3-4yrs and I'm lookin for a summer conditions, hi-perf tire now. I'm curious what sizes u guys are running with a 2/4 (and various other) drops, and what manufacturers/compounds? As my next stage build is gonna be HANDLING, I'm biased towards an auto-X option that can handle wet weather.
Lets post up thots and experience from drags to road racing...Thnx R/

I also have the Falken ziex's, they are very good on tread life. As for traction, that's another story. I've heard that Proxes are a little better, and it seems like BFGoodrich's g-Force T/A KDW 2's would be good also, maybe someone with them will chime in.

I cud prob keep driving mine for another few yrs, but they're already 6yrs old! I wonder what diff tires weigh? I'm def gonna go softer compound, a little less tread, and lower profile like a 30-40 instead of a 50. R/

are you really stuck on the 305-50-20? If you move down to a 295-45-20 you get more options. Typically when shoping for a sticky tire, the lower the treadwear rating, the stickier the compound. It will retain more heat which will wear faster but give you more grip. When I worked at america tire co, the stickiest tires had the lowest treadwear. It's the price you pay for better traction. oh ya nitto!

Not stuck on that size at all. Actually want to go a little narrower and lower profile and cut down on weight. I plan to do the 2/4 drop as well, so smaller will likely be better for that too. R/
