I've got a couple rock chips on the hood of mytruck as well as a small chip on the fender where a dropped wrench whacked it!

My truck is showed quite often in the summer and usually takes 1st in local small car shows. I'd like to touch these chips up, but I want to know the best looking way to do it? I have some paint mixed up left over from painting my bumper cover, but is using a small brush to cover the chips the best? I want them to be as unnoticeable as possible. Any tips or tricks?

Heres what i do
1. touch up paint
2. clay bar to remove excess paint and such
3. work your way from low to high grit polish
4. Follow up with a nice coat of wax.
Its not perfect but it keeps me happy

Touch up paint.
1> Clean the area. Have to get the wax and grease out.
2> A bit of fine grit sanding if you can down in the chip
3> Apply the touch up paint. Let dry. Add till its the high spot.
4> Sand the area with 1500 2000 grit to get it level. Keep it as small as possible. Don't go through the clear around it.
5> Buff it.
6> Wax it.
To be honest I very seldom do all this but if done right you won't see it. I've done it a couple times on some really visible areas. Most of the time I just do the 1-3.
