pick up 800, 1000, and 1500. Use water as well. What happens when you sand aluminum the material builds up on the paper and you decrease the life of the paper. If you use water with it and "wet sand" the material doesnt build up on the paper and you get better use of the paper. Dont start polishing untill you get done sanding.

I've painted the alternator and bracket, and the tensioner pulley bracket gloss black. Also painted the P & P'd throttle body gloss black. Had the valve covers green, then red, now I'm going black. Everything else is going pewter, professionally. Having it all painted this weekend. tearing the truck down now to get it all ready.

To be painted:
1. Cowl
2. Wipers
3. Brake booster
4. complete intake manifold
5. Fuel rails, fuel lines
6. front core support cover
7. Vortec engine cover (new one-messed the other one up)
8. coilpacks and brackets (painting over spraypaint)
9. New paintable cover for battery, coolant tank
10. LH and RH fender to firewall brackets
11. RH lower fender to firewall bracket
12. Fusebox already painted, as well as cruise control box
13. Various caps, i.e. oil, coolant, brake......
14. PCM cover
15?
16?

Any other things I should paint? Really thinking of pulling the e-fans and painting.....Also thinking of pulling the altenator and bracket off again to get at the water pump so I can paint it black to match, I hate that aluminum look. Thats a lot of extra work though....ALso going to pull the tow hooks and have painted, the air bag cover on the dash cause it wasnt painted when the dash was, and also the steering shaft under the hood will be pewter.

Any suggestions other than that? I'm going to paint all the frame I can get to with satin black under there....of course wipe the hell outta everything. Anyone run clear heater hoses or do they end up looking nasty? Already have a new underhood insulater thats nice and black......

THrow me some suggestions, and subscribe for the end result!!

Had it green

Then red

how did you get the alt cover apart to be able to tape off the internals to paint it?

no the stock airbox cover was painted but that was a spur of the moment thing...didnt plan on painting that but I threw it in. I figured the stock tube would be ugly painted or not so I left it out.

Looking for a CAI asap
