Well, 3 months later I went with a set of 275/60R17 Cooper Cobra Radial GT tires all around. They look a bit short in the back with stock suspension though. I may have to lower the back end just a little.

Hopefully the Cooper's will work out good for you. I'm just about in the market for new tires and am looking at the Cooper Zeon XST's. They're a good looking tire and the last time I checked they are American Made by an American Owned Company!

I was originally planning on getting the Discoverer ATR tires in 265/65R17 since I'm on the factory 7.5" wheels. Those would have kept my speedometer reading the same and everything while providing a little more width. They didn't have any of those in stock, but they did have the Discoverer CTS. However, they would have cost another $20 per tire. In the long run, that probably would've been a better idea since those have this stuff...
Free 45-day road test (U.S. only)
70,000 Mile Treadwear Protection Limited Warranty (U.S. only)
AND they have a 700 treadwear rating compared to the 440 that these have.

Oh well, I like how these look. They were $122 per tire (plus mounting, balance, old tire disposal & tax) and I have been dealing with that shop since I started driving 12 years ago. I have read a BUNCH of good reviews on them. I believe what I've read so far because the truck seems to ride better, it definitely handles much better, it hooks up better, it looks better, and it is sure to be a lot safer in the rain than my worn out out Generals. I have a feeling that my gas mileage won't be as good since these are softer, wider, and shorter, but I've got 3.23s and I have gotten a best of 25.7MPG on the highway (creeping along at 55mph).

Looks like this. Badmofo's truck:

That stance is about nice as they come.

Why not? Unless u just like buyin tires more frequently. I managed to squeeze out over 49k on my stock Americrap 16". I too didn't like the tires, & should've been replaced bout 5-8k mi ago. But I did rotate, & this last winter wasn't fun (basically worn out).

245 & 285 are the width. Not the htg.

Here is 275/60/17 on a 2/4 drop
Some nice trucks to say the least!

I know the benefits of rotating tires. I'm lazy though. I only got 23k on my OE tires. The fronts were worn out on the outsides and the rears were worn out in the middle. If I would've rotated them a year ago, I probably would've gotten at least an additional year from them.

it snows here on average 1 day a year and on that day the entire city shuts down LOL

I'll lower it some day. Probably just the rear though. I really don't want to get into taking apart the front suspension. The rear isn't that bad though with no alignment to mess with. The front airdam occasionally scraped going into some driveways and parking lots around here with the old tires and these are shorter.

Yes but they are both 70 series. The 70 is a ratio of the width. If the width goes up and the aspect ratio stays the same the height will go up also.

Yes, I'm aware of the fact that they're both 70 series, & I presume the OP knew that as well, so I didn't think that I needed to post that.
I suppose I could've said aspect ratio.

FWIW, a wealth of info can be found on Tire Rack's site. It contains more info than most ever need. It's nice to know it there if needed.
