Default Whats reasonable?

Okay, so i picked up a dual scoop hood for my truck off of craigslist for 100 bucks, Paint is totally trashed, but it doesnt matter cause its the wrong color anyway. Few minor chips here and there, nothing i cant fix myself, but i was wondering, what would a reasonable price be to get this thing painted to match my truck? truck is fine silver birch.
Im sure it may vary depending on location, im in southern california if it makes any difference
a local body shop quoted me around 370 to paint it, and i felt that seemed a little steep, so before i gave them the ok i figured id come on here and see what a reasonable price would be

For you to buy a quart of quality paint(smallest amount you can buy usually), plus clear, all the prep materials you will have $100-$150. If you don't have a gun they are $200+ for a good one.

I would say $370 might be a touch high but certainly not ridiculous.

I paid 400 to get mine painted but there are few body shops where I live. 370 doesn't sound to bad, buts that's just me. Maybe you just call around.

I have only painted a few things with a gun but my experiance is:

Paint is easy to spray and get even, clear coat is a bitch. All three times I have tried differant ways and still had massive ridges in my clear.

Painting isn't terribly difficult but it isn't easy or usualy cost effective if things go wrong.

remember too paint is one of those things that you get what you pay for. being a metallic paint, i would make sure they have some blend time in that quote. panel painting the hood might have color variance. otherwise $370 is not unreasonable IMO.
