with HIDs like many other things you get what you pay for. I had thought about doing those kits until I started to read over at HIDplanet. To do it the RIGHT way its quite expensive and not a simple bolt in. Around 800-1000$ to do it "right" with high quality ballasts, bulbs and all that other ****. The main thing those kits lack is the projectors.
Here is a thread to a buy who retrofit HIDs into 03+ chevy lights. You need to be a member, but if you REALLY want HIDs you should join up and read anyways. LINK

FWIW I took a Sylvania X2020 HID kit (w/ballasts) from my Tahoe and adapted it into the Silverado only to find the light pattern sucked. The stock lens throws the light out like a sawed off shotgun compared to a properly designed HID lens. Morale is: don't buy any kit that doesn't include a redesigned lens!
Instead, I run Sylvania Silverstar bulbs everywhere. I use 9005 (highs) in the fogs and modded the highs w/lows so it's damn bright all the time.
Are they as bright as the HID kit was? No.
Are they better than stock? Way better light color and brighter. Also, cost $30/pair.

I use the 6000k HID bulbs in my stock 06 headlight housing/lens, and I personally think that the light output is more than my buddies 06 Denali with the projector housing and the same 6000k HID setup. I will say that the Denali projectors light pattern is cleaner, but even being as picky as I am, I have no complaints about my Silverado housing/lens. $250(what I paid) vs $800, that's a lot of mod money going to waste.
