Project update: By next week the cam, valvesprings, 180 thermo, pushrods, and 4.10's will be installed.

Still shopping around and looking for a decent T-56 thats not gonna kill the budget and more than likely gonna wait until KB or Trick has another sale before i get the turbo im patient plus its stupid to waste $1000's when fuel prices are the way they are right now... F'n reDICKulous.
are you sticking with the truck intake or possibly ls6? did you decide on your new heads yet? which valvesprings did you get?

As of right now im sticking with the truck intake. Next year my project for it will be the LS6 intake with all the car extra's you got to buy with it. Also sticking with the stock heads until next year as well for when i do the intake swap (2 birds with one stone kinda thing). I went with the Patriot gold spring kit as seen here https://www.patriot-performance.com/...&cat=51&page=1.

Trying to do the big money stuff in this years budget, a.k.a. turbo, and tranny. Plus i dont have the equipment to install them so i have to factor in finding the right guy and his price for labor to the budget

I'll just feel when this years stuff is installed

$7K is alot of money, and forgive me for taking this long to catch on.
Are you planning on installing parts yourself or having it done?
I think your best bang for the buck is going to be a turbo kit and an LS6 cam/springs...wish I would have done the same but I didn't have a 7k budget at the time.
Factoring in daily driver status makes it even more of a PITA. If you go the turbo route you should definitely consider fuel system (fuel pump and injectors) and drivetrain - namely driveshaft. I would look for the driveshaft and/or u-joints to break before the transmission but I'm not a pro.

P.S. Don't forget tuning/dyno time.

Maybe upgrade to a stock bottom 5.3, throw some heads at it, LS6 cam or maybe even an LS9 cam.. KB turbo kit .. Fuel system upgrades.. Leave the 5 speed alone, get a high speed balanced driveshaft, 3.73 gears and a locker...

Then worse come to worse you still have your stock engine to poke back in it should something go wrong ....

DONE

I'd stick with the 4.8 personally, then go bigger IF something were to happen. Foose04 i think is his username is running 10s stock block and stock heads with a 4.8. Stick with the 4.8 and boost it, save some green till you NEED to spend it..
