Thanks JDG
I don't think they did as this is coming straight from their online order guide. I noticed not to long ago they started referring to the M32 as an HD. Also the transmission on the new Trailblazer SS is an M70 (4L70E). This same transmission is going to be on the "VortecMax Performance Package" offered for the 2006 Silverado extended cab 4X4 and the new short bed crew cab 4X4.

VortecMax Performance Pack, includes (LQ9) Engine, Vortec high-output 6000 V8 and door badge that reads "Vortec Max", (M70) Transmission, 4-speed automatic, super duty, (GT5) Rear axle, 4.10 ratio, (G80) Differential, locking, heavy-duty, rear, (ZX3) Suspension Package, Ride-Control, (NP8) Transfer case, electronic Autotrac, (KC4) Cooling, external engine oil cooler, (KNP) Cooling, external transmission oil cooler, auxiliary, and (Z82) Trailering equipment, heavy-duty
1 - Requires CK15753 or CK15543 Models. (QJM) or (QJP) Tires must be ordered. (P25) Wheels must be ordered. Option content within this package may not be substituted or deleted. - Not available with (Z71) Suspension Package, Off-Road.

M30 = 4L60-E
M32 = 4L65-E
M33 = 4L60-E for hybrid (electric oil pump, etc.)
M70 = 4L70-E
MT1 = 4L80-E
MN8 = 4L85-E
M74 = Allison 1000

Ok, I just read the article in Truck Trend Magazine about the 2005 RWD SS. It does indeed say 4L85E and lists its correct gear ratios. Can anyone confirm if this is correct or a mistake???

I am skeptical of several bits of data in that article. I think the trans should have been a 4L65-E instead of a 4L85-E. If the person putting the data together thought it was an '85, then it makes sense that they would find and list the ratios for that trans.

The tire size is listed as 245/75R20 which would have a diameter of 35.4 inches, which is a significant increase over the 31.9 inch diameter 275/55R20 tires that were previously used. Again I think this is a typo.

The axle ratio is listed as 4.10, but an article on the internet said Chevy changed the ratio to 3.73 in the 2WD SS.

So, someone has a 2WD SS and can verify this stuff. How 'bout it?

The 2wd SS does come with 3.73 gears.
It's hardly any different than the VHO trucks other than the body kit.

What's a 4L70E? Is it like a stronger 60/65E, or a weaker 80/85E ? This is getting confusing...
