Cam Question
Me getting my RST is around the corner, and coming fast. Since I can't seem to get my answer from anyone I talk to I figured I'd ask you people. If I cam the 4.8 until I swap a 6.0 (LQ9) or something (maybe an LS-3?) into it, can I use the same cam in the 6.0? I know the 5.3 and 4.8 are identical except for the stroke, but I am unaware of the dimensions of the LQ9 outside of the bore/stroke.
If I can use the same cam I'll cam the 4.8 and use it in the 6.0, if I can't use the cam I'll just wait till the swap is done.
Thanks for any input you guys can offer

join the club im installing a 242 238 .590 .580 on a 112 tomorrow in my 4.8. people will do nothing but frown on me for installing this cam. The 4.8 is a good motor and was explained to me as it acts exactly like an old school 302. toss a high revving cam, good intake and exhaust on it with a big stall and big gears and it should move out. plans are 4.88's, the cam above, 07+ intake, lightweight flywheel and underdrive pulley. a snappy high revving motor that no1 would expect. and if it doesnt net the goals on motor then toss some spray at her til she blows up...:nunchuk1:

the cam I'm looking at it as a 235/239, .597 .597 with a 110 lsa...choppy *** cam but thats what I'm looking for. it will be in the 4.8 along with other head work, 4.11 gears in a t-56 and spray until I build and swap the 6.0 in.

your gonna need more gear than that in the truck. im leaning towards 4.88's i got her all done. thing wont even idle on its own. needs a tune so so so bad. as soon as its tuned, ill get some vids for you guys. you might not even take the 4.8 out as soon as you find out what your track times are with a big cam, tall gears, good intake, and a nice shot of spray will do for ya. theres a guy on here named kyle who has a large came 4.8 on a 150 shot with some gears and threw an auto (no Stall) went 11.7 or 11.9? i forget. so you would be suprised what your little list could do for you....
