Default Drop kit for AWD SS?

So I should be picking my new truck(2005 Silverado SS) up at the end of the week and would like to get it lowered about 2" from where it sits stock. What kits are out there and what are the pros and cons of them? Any of them compromise the turning radius any?

Thanks guys

Will take pics when I get it.

McGaughys is the best. Stop by SilveradoSS.com and look around, you'll see it is the most popular.

You'll lose a little turning radius with the spindles, that's part of the price you pay for coolness.

So what are you modding plans?

McGaughys(pronounced McGoys) has a kit that uses spindles, shackle, and hanger for a 2/3.5 drop. Belltech has a kit with just spindle and shackle which is a 2/2 drop. I have seen both the spindles and Belltech is the one I am going with.

Here is a link to some pics JonmalibuSS from silveradoss.com took of his spindles. He switched over from Mcgaughys to Belltech.

for an 05' it kinda makes a difference if you have a 4wd or 2wd. bell tech seems to be the way to go for the 2wd's and mcgaughy's for the 4wd's.

well looks like every one covered the mcgaughys for the drop. The only down side is that you have to run a 18" wheel or larger with thier drop. dont quote me on that but i do know the 16" spare wont fit on the front with the kit. If it was me I would just put the larger sway bars on it and leave it stock height.

Or if you ever get a front flat, you could move a rear wheel/tire on the front, and put the the spare on the rear.

Just a thought.

Hmm...lose some turning radius huh. I don't care for that. I might hold off on the lowering stuff.

Matt - What sway bars are you talking about? Link it up you big redneck.

I know a few people that have used the Hotchkis Swaybars and they made a huge difference.

I have the Hotchkis sway bars on my SS and it made a big difference. I agree with Matt, leave the stock height. Some guys have had trouble with vibrations with both drop kits. Losing turn radius and vibrations just doesn't seem worth it.
What color did you get?
