Im also pricing 5.3 engines too...

heres my all out goal...

-5.3 engine swap
-transfer the cold air intake
-cam it/new springs/rockers etc...
-supercharger
-Ford 9in rear end with 4.10 gears
-upgraded suspension
-4L60E tranny swap
-retuned
-NOS (but thats the very last thing, even if)

Thats where I want this truck to go... but having a wife and a kid puts a HUGE slow pace to this, lol...

I saw in a youtube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5iLNAUTbH4) that this guy put a Ls2 intake on his 4.8L... Is that simply a bolt on or if u change the intake to an Ls2 will u need to replace anything else?

sliver i believe that video is a former member, who went by the name quik.

if you want to go to any of the car style intakes you have to get a car water pump, and all of the acc brackets. due to the fact that the intake sits so much lower than the truck styles. while the tbss intake doesnt pickup as much horsepower as the car intakes, you dont loose any toque in the bottom end which you need to move these flying bricks out.

i like your plan, you dont need a 9" rear. there are plenty of guys makin big power on the stock 10 bolt setup.

i agree with stroked, t-56 that flying brick, unless your truck is gonna be for bracket racing

if your looking for a front mount kb racing or trick is gonna be the way to go. thats what im kinda planning on doing when i get the cash.

watch that you dont go too big with your cam selection, your dealing with a truck, not a car you want power and torque you can use. if a cam is suppose to make power to 6800rpm, you cant really use that without some serious motor work. that also means that you power band will start close to 3krpm, so youll have nothing off the line. now im not a cam specialist or anything, but from what i have seen and read you dont really want to go any bigger than a 228/228 on a stock 6.0. now if your boosted i could even suggest where to go, but at that point i would have a cam spec'd for my setup.

hope that helps, sorry for the book

Turbo FTW...I'm pushing 500whp on pump gas through a turbo 2.3l. You won't see a supercharged 4 cyl do that.

It's free horsepower, whereas a blower takes power to make power. If you want a crazy ride, I'd go turbo.

My RST is gonna be sprayed until the 4.8 blows up or I get bored with it, then a turbo 370 or something will be thrown in there.

well When it rains it pours, took the rst to pick up a radiator for my daily becuase its got a hole in it and was backing the truck in hear a loud rattiling, got under it and the driver side exhaust is rotted off the muffler. Was wondering if you guys know of any systems that will get me in the ball park area to work with the rst tips.
Thanks

DUDE... i totally know what u mean. Pa is one of the WORST states to live in from the salt they put down... My truck is my daily driver too, and the only way to keep it from getting way outta control is going to the car wash every week or every other to get the underneath washed... $$$ well wasted (not in the long run tho)

Also... question... (cause immmmmmmmm dumb)

whats the difference between the t-56 and the 4l80e tranny???
