Been awhile for me too...good info on the cut outs.
I have managed to succesfully port/polish my throttle body after nuking two of them (third time's a charm right?). Shaner probably does a better job as they are CNC'd, but if anyone is curious I have helpful tips for a home job on a dbw throttle body, and yes it makes a noticeable difference.
As far as parts go, I'm gearing up...bought a set of yellow springs, seats, and seals from a member here a while back. Also stumbled across a set of bare 862 heads for like $110 shipped on ebay...I suspect they were also from a member here.
There's a guy semi-local to me that will port/polish, cut bigger valves, and mill .030 the heads for like ~$600.00 (pm me for website if interested..this guy is good).
Seeing as how I purchased the springs and heads I'm finally committed, but my first big purchase is going to be an EFILive Autocal from Black Bear, followed a close second by a pair of the e-bay long-tubes.
Its good to see everyone making progress.

I'm gonna swap in a 5.3 in the spring. Gonna be selling a Z06 cam later. Pick up the spoiler from paint. Would have it now but I left it in Ohio with a guy I know will do a good job for cheap.

I believe i was told the only difference between the 5.3 and the 6.0 is the torque... the HP is basically the same, and the 6.0 has a little more torque.
But take into consideration that the 6.0 is a bigger engine lbs wise. The 5.3 is basically a 4.8 block with different style pistons and crankshaft. Other than that there's no difference between the 4.8 and 5.3...
I looked up on a thread here somewhere where guys were talking about putting a 5.3 crank in the 4.8 so it would have uber high compression and a high rev (like 8k).
My 2 cents...
