you have the t56 though dont you and a different motor??

I'm seriously considering this truck, and if i get it i'm gonna do 3" exhaust with an x-pipe and probably some single chambers, and a big cam, and i mean a lumpy cam, its a 5spd so i dont need a stall i've been looking around and reading everybody forums about the 4.8l and cams. But isnt the 4.8 just a destroked 5.3 and isnt that a destroked 6.0, b/c i was told that its all the same stuff? So, do these motors have interchangible parts or only to a point? Also what rear gear do these trucks come with? I've always been a ford guy, and just recently am learning about these late model chevy's and all the abreviations for these motors. Thanks to everybody for the help and answering my questions.

I get about 18. I drive back and forth to work 45 mins each way. 95% highway. With the cruise set on 70. 4 sandbags in the bed.

yes i upgraded from a 4.8 to a 6.0 and t56, but i am making the same mileage that i did when i had the 4.8. so it does have decent mileage.

you are right about the 4.8 and the 5.3, but the 6.0 is a different bore and stroke that either of the other two. but you can still use many of the parts from one motor to the next. like the intake is the same on all three motors.

as far as your gear code your gonna look in the glove box for one of the following codes:
G80 Differential, locking, heavy-duty, rear
G86 Differential, limited slip, heavy-duty, rear
GT4 Rear axle, 3.73 ratio
GT5 Rear axle, 4.10 ratio
GU6 Rear axle, 3.42 ratio

for the complete list of product codes for a 2004 1500 2wd silverado you can go here..... http://www.gm-trucks.com/home/content/view/71/30/
